Spring Commencement at SUNY Plattsburgh

Students speak to their classmates during Commencement On Saturday, May 16, 2009, an estimated 900 Plattsburgh State students will begin a new phase of their lives as they receive their degrees during the 2009 Spring Commencement ceremonies, which will be held in the Field House Gymnasium. The day will bring joy, feelings of pride and even tears to those in attendance during this spring ritual.

The first ceremony would begin at 10 a.m. and will be held for students majoring in programs within the Division of Education, Health and Human Services and the School of Business and Economics. The second ceremony will commence at 2 p.m. for students in the Division of Arts and Science.

This celebration of achievement would not be as poignant without the careful attention to the numerous details involved in planning this momentous occasion. The procedures on protocol covered here have proven to be highly effective in preserving the dignity of the proceedings over the years. Dora Bradley, adjunct lecturer in Communication Disorders and Science, is seeking graduating students who took advanced level courses in Sign Language and who might want to group sign the Star Spangled Banner at Spring Commencement.
