Center for Earth and Environmental Science at SUNY Plattsburgh

Promoting Interdisciplinary Studies of the Environment

The Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) at SUNY Plattsburgh is an interdisciplinary unit consisting of Geology, Geography and Environmental Science programs. With over 200 students and twenty faculty members, CEES offers a great diversity of courses with small class sizes. Ten academic programs within the Center integrate courses across the disciplines.

Plattsburgh State established one of the first undergraduate Environmental programs in the U.S.  We have over 2,500 graduates. Over 60% of our students pursue undergraduate research projects with faculty mentors.

The Center for Earth and Environmental Science at Plattsburgh State University is dedicated to teaching, research and service in ecological, environmental, geographical and geological aspects of the world. We provide instruction and guidance to improve student understanding of local, regional and global environments. We also prepare students for careers in natural sciences, planning and management of the environment and sustainable development of human societies.
