Promoting Interdisciplinary Studies of the Environment
The Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) at SUNY Plattsburgh is an interdisciplinary unit consisting of Geology, Geography and Environmental Science programs. With over 200 students and twenty faculty members, CEES offers a great diversity of courses with small class sizes. Ten academic programs within the Center integrate courses across the disciplines.

Plattsburgh State established one of the first undergraduate Environmental programs in the U.S. We have over 2,500 graduates. Over 60% of our students pursue undergraduate research projects with faculty mentors.
State-of the Art facilities
The Center provides students with access to state-of-the-art laboratory and field facilities, including:
- Remote Sensing and GIS laboratories
- The Ecosystem Studies Field laboratory
- The Lake Champlain Research Institute with limnological research vessels
- Environmental Chemistry laboratories
