Cardinals Finish 28th; Heymann Nets All-America Honors
HANOVER, Ind. - Sophomore Mike Heymann led the Plattsburgh State men's cross country team to a 28th-place finish out of 32 schools at Saturday's NCAA Division III Championships hosted by Hanover College. Heymann was 20th to earn his first All-America citation, completing the 8-kilometer course in 24 minutes and 49.88 seconds. The Cardinals, who came into the weekend ranked nationally for the first time under fourth-year coach John Lynch at No. 32, scored 609 points in their first NCAA appearance since 1999. [read more ]

Schaffhouser Earns All-America Laurels
HANOVER, Ind. - Plattsburgh State junior Jennifer Schaffhouser had an eighth-place All-America finish Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Hanover College. Schaffhouser covered the 6-kilometer course in 21 minutes and 16.73 seconds, which is a school record for that distance and bettering her previous personal record by over a minute. This also marks a 100-place improvement from last year's NCAA meet in her third national appearance. [read more ]

Men's Hockey Storms Back to Earn Point at Potsdam
POTSDAM, N.Y. - Visiting Plattsburgh State scored three times in the final 6 minutes and 44 seconds of regulation to cap a wild comeback and salvage a 4-4 tie at Potsdam State on Saturday night in State University of New York Athletic Conference men's hockey action at Maxcy Hall. The No. 2-ranked Cardinals remain unbeaten at 6-0-1 on the season, including 5-0-1 in SUNYAC, while the Bears are now 2-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the conference. [read more ]

Plattsburgh Captures Cardinal-Panther Classic in Shootout
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Claire O'Connor came through for second-ranked Plattsburgh State and scored the shootout-winning goal in the championship game of the 2008 Cardinal-Panther Women's Hockey Classic against No. 3 Middlebury College on Saturday at Stafford Ice Arena. The result officially goes down in the books as a 2-2 tie for both teams, as the shootout took place in order to declare a winner of the Classic. [read more ]

Plattsburgh-Middlebury Advance to Championship Round
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The No. 2-ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team beat visiting Williams College, 4-2, on Friday evening and advances to the championship round of the Cardinal-Panther Classic at the Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals will face-off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against No. 3 Middlebury College, which defeated top-ranked Elmira College, 2-1, earlier in the day to earn its place in the Finals. Hada Named Assistant SID
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State Athletics Department has announced that Julia Hada is the new Assistant Sports Information Director at the College. She officially started her duties on Nov. 3, and takes over for Kerry Chapin who became the school's Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs in August.
Hada comes to the Cardinals after a stint at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, where she was the school's first Graduate Assistant for Sports Information.
While at Heidelberg, Hada directly oversaw media relations for men's and women's soccer, wrestling and softball. She shared duties covering the public relations needs of the men and women's tennis, cross country, golf, and track and field teams as well.
A Painesville, Ohio native, Hada is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and holds a bachelor's degree in English-Writing from the Berg. She is currently working towards her master's degree in education.

Mader Double-Double Leads Men's Basketball Past Norwich
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Brad Mader scored 17 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds--both career bests--to help Plattsburgh State to a 76-67 victory Tuesday over host Norwich in a non-conference men's basketball game at Andrews Hall. Chris Ruiz added a team-best 20 points and Josh Bruno came off the bench to score a personal-record 11 points in just seven minutes of action for the Cardinals, who improve to 2-1 on the season. Men's Cross Country Makes NCAA Field, Debut in National Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS - The Plattsburgh State men's cross country team has punched its ticket to the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday in Hanover, Ind., receiving an at-large bid from the national selection committee. This is Plattsburgh's first trip to the NCAA meet since 1999. Women's Hockey Completes Sweep of Cougars
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The No. 2-ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team capped off its weekend with a 4-1 win Sunday over visiting Chatham University at the Stafford Ice Arena. The result follows a 10-0 victory by the Cardinals over the Cougars on Saturday. Plattsburgh now stands at 4-1 on the year, as well as in the Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division. Westfield State Beats Hosts for Cardinal Classic Title
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Westfield State men's basketball team coughed up a double-digit lead in the second half on Sunday afternoon, but hung on to turn back Plattsburgh State, 64-60, to capture the 2008 Cardinal Classic championship at Memorial Hall. Tournament MVP Asa Abbott scored 15 points to pace the Owls, who improve to 2-0 on the season. The host Cardinals (1-1) got a game-high 16 points from reserve Brad Mader on 7-of-10 field goal shooting, plus six rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. [read more ]
