Transfer Admissions - Important Dates and Deadlines

Applications

SUNY Plattsburgh has rolling admissions, which means that there are no specific deadlines for admission. Rather, we continue to accept qualified applicants until all available slots are filled.

However, applications will receive optimal consideration for admission when submitted by the following dates:

Fall 2009

• March 1

Spring 2009

• November 1

Deposit

In order to officially enroll at SUNY Plattsburgh, accepted transfer students must pay an admissions deposit. In order to be guaranteed that a spot will be held, the deposit must be received by the following dates:

Fall 2009

• May 1, or within thirty days of acceptance (whichever is later)

Spring 2009

• December 1, or within thirty days of acceptance (whichever is later)

Deposit Refunds

The deadline for refunds is May 1 for the fall or December 1 for the spring. For students who have been accepted after these dates, deposits will be refunded within 30 days of the date on the acceptance letter. Please note that all such requests must be made in writing.

Orientation/Registration

Orientation and registration typically occurs throughout the summer for the fall semester and throughout the months of December and January for those who are enrolling in the spring semester.  

Fall 2009 (Main Campus)

• The specific dates for fall 2009 orientation will be updated in early spring.  Invitations will be sent to all deposit paid (or waived) transfer students in late May.  Orientation will include an extensive advisement and course registration session.
• For those students who cannot make it to orientation, registration will also be available online.  The specific dates for online registration will be updated in late spring.

Spring 2009 (Main Campus)

• There is no specific orientation session for transfer students entering SUNY Plattsburgh in the spring semester.  Rather, registration will be completed online in consultation with an academic department chairperson.  Other orientation activities for new students will be held opening weekend.

Branch Campus

• Students attending the SUNY Plattsburgh Branch Campus at Adirondack Community College should call (518) 792-5425 to set up an appointment to meet with an advisor for course registration and advisement for either spring or fall 2009.

Classes Begin!

SUNY Plattsburgh's first day of classes for main and branch campus students are held on the following dates:

Fall 2009

• August 24

Spring 2009

• January 26
