Recreation Staff Assistant

Two positions are available each year for full-time P.S.U. students who live on-campus to assist the Recreational Sports Coordinator. They are responsible for hiring, assignment, supervision and personnel management of all work-study and temporary service recreation employees. In addition, the staff assistants keep recreation statistics, submit payroll, act as liaisons to sports clubs and provide support to college organizations and groups in their sports programming. Students interested in these positions must submit a resume and cover letter to the Recreational Sports Coordinator by April 15th of each year for the following year.

Intramural Coordinator

One position is available each year for a full-time Plattsburgh State student to assist the Recreation Sports Coordinator with the intramural program. Individuals should have a background in officiating and supervision. He/She is responsible for the smooth operation of the program. This includes hiring, training, assigning, supervising officials and payroll for the program. Student must be available Monday thru Friday, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Students interested in these positions must submit a resume and cover letter to the Recreational Sports Coordinator by April 15th of each year for the following year.

Lifeguards

Positions open to Plattsburgh State students who hold current certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Guards are responsible supervising the swimming pool during recreational hours, enforcing the swimming pool rules and to provide for the safety of swimmers.

Water Safety Instructor

Instructor positions are open to Plattsburgh State students holding current certifications as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or have experience in teaching swimming, Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer. Instructors will teach for nine Saturday mornings 8:45 a.m. to noon each semester in the "Youth Learn to Swim" program. Instructors are also either hired as lifeguards or placed on the lifeguard sub list.

FA/CAED Instructor

Instructor positions are open to Plattsburgh State students hold current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer instructor certification. Instructors are responsible for supervising practice and skill testing in the CPR lab lab and teaching non-credit CPR/AED./First Aid courses for the college community.

Recreation Attendant (Equipment Issue, Memorial Hall building supervisors for Memorial and Sibley gym supervisors)

Seven positions are only open to students granted work-study through the Financial Aid Office. Three positions are temporary service positions for any full time Plattsburgh State student. Applicants must be available for 3 hour shifts between 3 pm – 11 pm weekdays and Noon-10 pm on weekends. Recreation attendants supervise and enforce building regulations in Memorial Hall and Sibley Gym, issue equipment from the Recreation Office in Memorial and will be required to be trained in Adult CPR/AED and First Aid.Students must fill out application and indicate if they are applying for work-study or temporary service positions and submit application to Mrs. Bardon in 314 Memorial Hall (518-564-4150)

Intramural Officials

Positions are open to Plattsburgh State students who have the maturity to work with participants in the program in a firm, fair and friendly manner and have knowledge of the rules. Officials are expected to work closely with the intramural coordinator to provide a quality intramural program.

Summer Recreation Staff

Each summer 2-3 individuals are hired to supervise Memorial Hall, issue equipment and be a lifeguard in the pool. Applicants must have current First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and lifeguard certifications. Must be available between 4 pm –9 pm weekdays only
