Expand Your Personal Artistic Expression with Solid Technical Skills
The Painting program at Plattsburgh State offers a sequence of courses and independent studies designed to develop both technical skills and personal artistic expression. In beginning courses, students work from models, still lifes and landscapes; using both oil and acrylics. The emphasis is on rendering, color and space, paint manipulation, and composition.
By building on this foundation, intermediate students explore various media and a wide range of traditional and contemporary painting issues. In a supportive but challenging environment, advanced students work more independently, refining their personal vision and skills as they prepare themselves for careers as painters.
Painting Facilities
Beginning students have their own studio and work areas. Additional studios provide the intermediate and advanced students a personal work environment. Two faculty members teach the painting courses.
