Many students know that they are ready to attend college, but aren't ready to choose an academic major. In fact, approximately one third of each freshmen class at Plattsburgh State enter as undeclared majors.
As an undeclared major, you have the benefit of being assigned to a full-time professional academic advisor. Our academic advisors help you by:
- Contacting you early regarding your course registration
- Assessing your level of indecision
- Assisting with academic/career exploration.
In addition to one-on-one assistance, students who enter undeclared can participate in a special freshman seminar--FRX105-FACT:Facilitating Academic and Career Transitions.
Your Academic Advisor will:
- Assist you in making academic and career choices
- Direct you to information about a particular major
- Help you to make appropriate course selections and to understand your degree requirements
- Assist you in developing strategies to achieve excellent academic performance
- Address questions or concerns you may have regarding your program, courses, educational goals, et.
- Explain and refer you to campus resources, such as the Career Development Center
